Abstract

The role of beta blockers in the management of systemic hypertension is discussed in detail. The major indications for its use, its side effects and adverse effects are discussed in detail. The newer vasodilatory beta blockers are introduced. The present status of beta blockers in the latest guidelines for the management of hypertension is also mentioned.
