Abstract

Acquired von Willebrand syndrome (AVWS) is a bleeding disorder caused by acquired abnormalities in von Willebrand factor. It occurs in association with several malignant diseases as well as cardiovascular conditions. We present here the case of a woman without any family history of bleeding disorders, who presented with recurrent epistaxis from AVWS in the context of very high platelet count secondary to chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML).
